    Coal Tar Epoxy Primer is a heavy duty high build epoxy primer. Prevents rust and corrosion, has excellent adhesion & abrasion resistance, and Is recommended for saltwater immersion service. Conforms with U.S. Corp of Engineer - C-200 specification.

    9. RECOMMENDED DRY FILM: 10.0 mils
    10. COVERAGE: Theoretical coverage of 10 mils dry is 128 square feet per gallon. Material losses during mixing and application will vary and must be taken into consideration.
    11. POT LIFE: 75 degrees F - 3-4 hours, lower at higher temperatures
    12. AVERAGE DRY TIME 75°F: Dries to touch in 5-6 hours. Can recoat in 5 hours to 20 hours. Allow 5 hours minimum before recoating with antifouling.
    13. RECOMMENDED REDUCER: Reduce with 974 Reducer as needed for proper flow and performance, 10% maximum.
    14. RECOMMENDED CLEAN UP: 974 Reducer or Xylene
    15. RECOMMENDED FINISH: Ablative or Epoxy Hard antifoulings
    16. SURFACE PREPARATION: BARE FIBERGLASS: Degrease by wiping with a rag soaked in 973 Dewaxer. Sand with 80 grade (grit) paper. Remove sanding residue. Wipe with 973 Dewaxer.
    17. Over Coal Tar Epoxy: Abrade surface by sweep blast or 36 grit sanding.
    18. BARE METAL: Surface should be blasted to bright metal. Remove all blast or sanding residue using a clean air line and sweeping with a clean brush or broom. Vacuum clean for best results. Apply primer within 1 hour of metal preparation. If blasting is not possible (or if more than 2 hours has passed since blasting) sand or grind with coarse 36-60 grit discs. Remove sanding dust.
    19. APPLICATION: Final Dry Thickness of 20 mils. This usually takes 2 coats, but the amount of paint is more important than the number of coats.
    20. Airless Spray Pressure: 165 bar/2400 psi Tip Size: 0.44-0.53 mm/17-21 thou. Conventional Spray Pressure Pot: Pressure: 3.44-4.47 bar/50-65 psi (gun pressure); 10-15 psi (pot pressure). Tip Size: 1.5-1.8 mm/60-70 thou.
    21. Brush Use a natural bristle brush.
    22. Roller Use a 3/8” - 1/2” nap solvent resistant roller.
    23. POT LIFE: 5 hours
    24. LIMITATIONS: Do not apply if material, substrate or ambient temperature is below 50F or above 95F. Do not put over 1 part paints.
    25. SHELF LIFE: Minimum 36 months
    26. INDUCTION TIME: 20-30 minutes
    27. MIXING: Mix 4 parts 8003 Part A Base and 1 part 8003 Part B Activator by volume at the specified ratio. Mix only as much as you can use in 2 hours. Mix small amounts until application technique is developed.
    28. PACKAGE: 2 Part kit (1 (3/4 gallon fill) 8003A Base, 1 quart 8003B Activator)equals 1 full gallon mixed.
