Zinc Plate Primer is a very fast-drying zinc rich
primer designed primarily as a corrosion-inhibiting product for use
on aluminum and metal roof surfaces including ferrous and nonferrous
metals in marine air environments. Use it before top coating with
Zinc-Plate Roof Paint or metal roof
paint products. A premium-grade, high solid primer that not only
acts as an effective rust preventative on steel and iron substrates
but should be viewed as an integral component of any corrosion
resistant coating system. It is yellow zinc rich and contains a
balanced composition of special pigments and phenolic modified resin
providing good rust-inhibitive properties and blister resistance for
better adhesion and metal protection. It is satisfactory for
application in a wide range of temperatures and humidity conditions.
Conforms to government specification number TT-P-1757. Color:
Yellow. Product type: Zinc Chromate Phenolic Modified Alkyd
Rust-Inhibitive Zinc Primer.
Stats: Dry to the touch: 5-10 minutes, tack free: 20 minutes, time
to recoat: 30 minutes, dry hard: 30 minutes. Weight Solids: 58-60%.
Practical coverage is 300-350 square feet per gallon @ approximately
2.0 mils dry.
Recommended preparation: For best results remove old
metal roof paint, loose scale, grease, oil and contaminates. Sand,
grind, bead blast or power-wash prior to the application of any
cleaner or primer. Steel: TS-5679 Phos-Pro
Rust Converting Cleaner, etch concrete with
TS-695 Etching Cleaner. All surfaces must be thoroughly dry
before the application of any metal roof paint.
Application: This product is at a spray viscosity
designed for airless use: The zinc primer should be allowed to dry a
minimum of 1/2 hour before recoating with subsequent roof coatings.
It should be applied to a dry film thickness between 0.3-0.4 mil.
For non-marine equipment, or on iron or steel surfaces it should be
applied to 0.6-0.8 mil dry film. NOTE: This zinc primer is designed
for spray application over surface-treated metal or pretreatment
coatings (See TS-117 Pre-Treatment Wash
Primer). If used for dip or flow-coat application, the
product suitability should be determined by the user. Physical
characteristics: Viscosity: 20-25 sec. #2 Zahn. Stir thoroughly
before use. Brush, roller, or spray.
Thin
& clean up: Use only with factory recommended thinner. It should not
be thinned unless absolutely necessary. Thin if necessary with
TS-605 Thinner. Tools and equipment
may be cleaned with TS-605 Synthetic Thinner or
TS-610 Lacquer Thinner.
NOTE: Use with elastomeric roof
paints, epoxy roof paint, fiberglass roof paint, flat roof paints,
flat roof coating, acrylic roof paint, aluminum roof coatings,
concrete roof paint, elastomeric roof coating,
flat roof coatings, metal roof paint, roof sealant, RV roof coating,
rubber roof coating, paint
for rusty metal, tile roof paints, steel roof coatings, tin roof
paint, zinc roof paint, metal roof paints and tile roof coatings
