TS-900 Fabrication Primer

View/Change/Complete your order:

A versatile, easy to use hi-performance rust preventative primer for use with ferrous and non-ferrous metal and galvanized surfaces. TS Fabrication Primer is a premium-grade, high solid, low VOC coating that acts as a rust inhibiting marine primer locking out air and moisture to prevent rust. Resistant to moisture, salt spray and chemicals. It acts not only as a rust preventative on steel and iron substrates but should be viewed as an integral component of any corrosion resistant coating system. It penetrates cracks around light rust and mill scale. Additionally, it protects corners and edges and resists exposure to the damaging effects of weather. Intended for use as a marine primer coat for properly prepared surfaces. Use on interior or exterior structural steel and under most any paint. Excellent for shop equipment, tanks, metal structures of all kinds, doors and handrails. Color: White or Grey. Finish is low sheen. Available in quart, gallon or five gallon cans.

Stats: Dries to the touch in 30 minutes, tack free in 1 hour, recoatable in 2 hours, dries hard in 4 hours. Apply by brush, roller or spray. Coverage is approximately 300 square feet per gallon, depending on the texture and porosity of the surface. Dries to the touch in 30 minutes. Recoat in 8 hours. Apply by brush, roller or spray.

Recommended preparation: For best results remove old marine coating, loose scale, grease, oil and contaminates. Sand, grind, bead blast or power-wash prior to the application of any cleaner. All surfaces must be thoroughly dry before the application of any boat primers, topside coatings, bottom paints, spar varnish or brightwork varnish.

Application: Marine primers should be allowed to dry a minimum of two to three hours before recoating with subsequent boat primers or marine coatings. It should be applied to a dry film thickness between 0.3-0.5 mil. For non-marine equipment or on iron or steel surfaces it should be applied to 0.6-0.8 mil dry film. NOTE: This marine primer is designed for application over surface-treated metal or pretreatment coatings (See TS 117 Pre-Treatment Wash Primer). If used for dip or flow-coat application, the product suitability should be determined by the user.

Thin & clean up: TS 605 Thinner. Clean spills and tools immediately with TS 605 Thinner.
