We have designed our Super Fleck Flooring System to be economical, easy to use and highly durable. We have prepared it in “kits” to provide you with enough product to cover a typical one car garage or about 250 square feet so if you have a two or three car garage you will require two or three kits accordingly.
It is best if concrete floors are allowed to cure 3or more months before application. Additionally, you DO NOT want to seal your concrete floor before applying paint because sealers are often incompatible with paint. Sealers can prevent paint from soaking into the concrete so it may not adhere if it has been sealed. You want to be certain your concrete surface has not been sealed before moving forward with your plans to paint. We recommend doing a small test area before you commit to the entire project. This could prevent major problems if there is a sealer you don’t know about or some unknown compatibility problem. Please be sure to test first!
1. Patch or repair any cracks, holes or divots with a compatible, porous patching material. Wash your surface with an acid wash solution. Follow the directions on the container. We recommend Rynolite cleaner as seen on our supplies web page. Concrete continues to leach lime even after cured so you have to deal with that before you paint.
2. Before applying our paint you want to do a simple moisture test to be sure your concrete is dry enough to paint. Simply duct tape a small piece of preferably clear plastic to the floor and wait a few hours. If you see water droplets on the plastic the floor is too wet. Wait until the plastic shows no water droplets before proceeding.
3. Mix and apply the two-part epoxy primer coat according to the instructions on the can. It is best to roll this product on although you may want to brush the edges and corners. Allow to dry for 24 hrs.
4. Mix and apply the two-part urethane “color” coat according to the instructions on the cans. Allow to dry for 24 hrs.
5. Now its time to apply the two-part urethane clear coat. Mix and apply the clear coat according to the instructions on the cans. Allow to dry for 24 – 48 hours before walking on it. Allow 7-10 days for total cure to be achieved. Note: Do not over apply clear or it may take on an amber appearance.
